COVID-19
Temporary Closure

SFCF COMMUNITY

As of Monday, March 16th, SFCF is temporarily closed in order to comply with the San Francisco Shelter in Place order. We cannot overemphasize that the safety of our members and community has been, and remains, our top priority.

And while we will all miss our members, clients, visitors and friends, we are doing our best to stay connected through the closure.

Please check your inbox for emails from us with the latest on our offerings while we are closed, and while you're at it, please add us to your contact list so we can be sure to get in touch as we learn more.

Read on for more info on how we're keeping our members (and ourselves) happy and healthy through the closure.

Please continue to follow the basic tips below to stay healthy in the gym.

Wipe down your equipment after every exercise and don’t hesitate to request more cleaner or wipes if you need it.

Hand-washing is your best self-defense against the spread of germs. As a backup, use the antibacterial hand sanitizer readily available to you. We recommend that members wash their hands on a consistent basis before and after classes.

Substitute fist bumps and high fives for ‘fist pumps’ and ‘air high fives.’ Please feel comfortable not participating in any bodily contact with other staff or members and be respectful of others’ decision to also refrain from contact.

GYM POLICIES

Here are additional things we need to continue doing to keep our sites clean and safe:

• Please continue wiping down all areas of equipment (including the floor) that you have touched throughout your workout.

• It is recommended to wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, particularly after going to the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing, and before and after class.

• We will continue to increase our stocks of hand sanitizer and disinfectant

Please stay home if you are not feeling well, especially if you have a fever, are coughing or sneezing or are experiencing shortness of breath. In some instances, if directed by local authorities, you may be asked screening questions before coming into the gym, such as:

• Are you feeling any cold symptoms or shortness of breath?

• Have you been in close proximity to someone who has been positively diagnosed?

*Note that as an SFCF member, you have the ability to place your membership on hold until you are recovered.

Help us by being vigilant. If you have traveled to any of the countries where there are outbreaks of the virus, please follow guidance on the CDC website.

QUESTIONS

WILL THE GYM REMAIN OPEN?
As of Tuesday, March 17th and to comply with the Bay Area lockout order, San Francisco Crossfit will close until April 8th, unless we receive further orders to remain closed.

ARE CLASS SCHEDULES STILL THE SAME?
All classes are currently canceled.  Please read our ongoing member emails for information about whether we will add virtual or outdoor classes.

ARE THERE ANY "AT HOME" WORKOUTS THAT I CAN ACCESS?
Yes! Starting last week SFCF is posting At-Home Workouts every day that are accessible here: https://sanfranciscocrossfit.com/category/workout-of-the-day/

Also, please see above for a full list of our live Zoom classes, as well as where you can find past pre-recorded Zoom classes.

WHAT EQUIPMENT IS REQUIRED FOR THE AT-HOME WORKOUTS?
We are currently offering a minimal equipment workout, a bodyweight workout and a down-regulation session daily.
- For the minimal equipment workout, a single dumbbell or kettlebell is needed, any size that you have on hand, plus a back pack that you can fill with books or wine bottles.
- For the bodyweight workout, you will just need yourself.
- And for the down-regulation session, a foam roller (or wine bottle) and a lacrosse ball (or tennis ball, racket ball, golf ball, etc) are necessary.

CAN I CHECK OUT (OR RENT OR LEASE) EQUIPMENT DURING THE CLOSURE?
Sadly no, while we were able to offer equipment borrowing on our final day of business, the "shelter in place" rules apply to all businesses. As such, we are not able to offer further equipment loans.

CAN I CANCEL OR PUT MY MEMBERSHIP ON HOLD?
Yes, all members have the ability to place their membership on hold. In the event you would like to cancel your membership please reach out to Jessica directly (jessica(at)sanfranciscocrossfit.com) and please note cancellation fees will apply.  Also, PLEASE note that this is an EXTRAORDINARILY stressful time for our small family-owned business and our hourly staff. If you can afford to keep your membership live during this unprecedented crisis, we would be very grateful and it will go a long way to the gym surviving this extremely uncertain time.
